into streams and puddles and pools
my love and I gaze at the stars and moon
as our stone's splash starts to ripple
the mirrored waters surface
through which the silver salmon break
feeding on the stars above the lake
which fall upon her face
in this light her skin is gold
her hair is silk and her breath is grey
and the child inside that sleeps by day
is woken by the cold
icy earth crunches and cracks
beneath our wandering feet
our pallid faces turn to meet
as we kiss on the deer hoof track
and then she steals some dark cold air
and whispers farewells with a laughter
she gifts a smile a kiss so fair
and disappears beneath the water
